An oxbow lake setting gives Kings Pool Camp a wonderful waterside location in an area famous for its land-based game viewing. The Linyanti Reserve lies between the Chobe National Park and the vast game-rich wetlands that span northern Botswana and Namibia’s Caprivi Strip. Game viewing and birding is good all year but exceptional wildlife sightings are best enjoyed in the dry winter months from June to October.

Kings Pool is one of Botswana’s most luxurious camps. Raised wooden walkways connect the main lodge to its nine beautiful suites, each featuring a private viewing deck and plunge pool. Guests enjoy morning and afternoon game drives as well as the camp’s famous sunset cruise on the Linyanti River when water levels permit. Two hides make bird watching and wildlife photography easy, especially since one of them is set with water at eye level.

The camp is solar-powered and has a wonderful romantic ambience, perfect for honeymoons and special-occasion celebrations. Its private nature and self-contained suites will appeal to families with older children and groups travelling together, especially during peak game viewing season when there is plenty of drama unfolding next to the river. Great herds of elephant and buffalo move into the area for water, good news for Linyanti’s big cats and the area ‘special’ – packs of the highly endangered African wild dog.

Lodge Highlights:

  • Lagoon-side setting in the Private Linyanti Reserve
  • Game drives, sunset river cruises & birding
  • Excellent dry-season game viewing
  • Massages, photography hides & private plunge pools

Activities at Kings Pool Camp

  • Day & Night Game Drives
  • River Barge Cruises (Seasonal)
  • Guided Walks & Bird Watching
  • Catch-&-Release Fishing (Seasonal)

Linyanti’s permanent waterways are surrounded by golden grasslands and open woodland – prime big game country. An appealing blend of Chobe and Moremi environments, the Linyanti area is best explored by 4X4 and guests at Kings Pool enjoy morning, afternoon and evening game drives in the company of expert guides, on the lookout for Linyanti’s famous predators: the area is particularly good for leopard and lion as well as the African wild dog, packs of which breed in the area.

Open-sided vehicles make photography easy, as do the camp’s two photographic hides, one of which is located at water level. River barge cruises – complete with sundowner drinks and an African sunset – are offered when water levels are high enough, as is catch-and-release fishing. Linyanti is a year-round destination but game viewing is best during the dry winter months from June to October when animals concentrate in ever-increasing numbers at the water’s edge.
