Days 1 - 2: Into the Okavango Delta
Having arrived at Botswana’s Maun Airport you will be transferred via shared private charter to rustic Mboma Island Camp, one of the delta’s most economic camps at the heart of the wetland wilderness of the Moremi Game Reserve. A bird-lover’s paradise, and an adventurer’s dream, Mboma has 5 light Meru-style canvas tents equipped with twin stretcher beds and en suite, open-air bathrooms. Everything about this camp is eco-friendly, from the solar-power, to bucket showers, and chemical toilets. Mboma Island Camp is situated on the floodplains of the meeting point of the Delta’s fresh waters and the Moremi’s savannah terrain, means that Mboma is ideal for both land and water based safaris.
Days 3 - 4: The Delta Adventure continues
Set on the edge of the Okavango Delta, Sango Safari Camp is your next destination. Overlooking the Moremi Game Reserve, Sango Camp sits in an exclusive-use concession on the Khwai River. It’s an area famous for its excellent year-round game viewing and birding. Khwai also has a well-won reputation for big cats and wild dogs. Guests enjoy day and night game drives, guided walks and visits to the nearby village to browse handmade crafts and chat to locals.
Days 5 - 6: Fly to Savuti – ‘Predator Paradise’
A short flight takes you from Sango Camp to Savuti. The raw heart of the Chobe National Park, the Savuti region is famous for its eternally warring lions and spotted hyenas. Savuti’s grasslands support great herds of antelope and attract a summer zebra migration. It’s also one of the best places in Africa for up-close photos of elephants. Enjoy two nights of tented comfort at Camp Savuti. Set on the now-flowing Savuti Channel, the camp offers armchair views of wildlife drinking at the water. You’ll enjoy morning and afternoon game drives in the company of experienced guides.
Days 7 - 8: The Smoke that Thunders - Victoria Falls
After breakfast you fly from Savuti to Kasane on the Chobe River. From here, a road transfer takes you into Zimbabwe and to Victoria Falls. Your destination is Ilala Lodge, a well-established hotel set in prime position: it’s a 10-minute walk to the falls from the hotel. Ilala Lodge will make any bookings you want. And at Africa’s ‘adventure capital’, there’s plenty on offer. Choose from whitewater rafting, canoe safaris and scenic flights. Other activities include walking with lions, elephant-back safaris and Zambezi River cruises.
Days 9 - 11: A private Big 5 Safari
The day begins with a road transfer to Livingstone Airport and from there a flight from Livingstone to Nelspruit, gateway to the Kruger and its superb private reserves. An overland transfer takes you to Notten’s Bush Camp in the Sabi Sands Private Reserve. One of the finest family-run lodges in Africa, Notten’s is one of the best-kept secret in the Sabi and game drives with the lodge’s expert guides and trackers show why. The Sabi is one of the richest wildlife destinations in Africa and you’ll enjoy fantastic Big 5 game viewing and epic bird watching at any time of year.
Days 12 - 14: A Waterfront Finale
Fly to Nelspruit and then Johannesburg before connecting with your flight to Cape Town. Then it’s time to relax: the Victoria & Alfred Hotel sits at the heart of the V&A Waterfront and enjoys views of the busy harbour and Table Mountain. For some, this is a time to catch up on some retail therapy and hit the beaches. For others, it’s a time to explore. There is hiking, shark-cage diving, wine tours and, in season, whale watching. Full of restaurants, clubs, cocktail bars, markets and family entertainment, Cape Town makes the ideal ending.
Day 15: The Journey Ends
Enjoy breakfast with a Table Mountain view before checking out of the V&A Hotel. Your African Dream Safari ends today.
