Tongabezi Lodge

Tucked away under magnificent riverside trees, Tongabezi has long had the reputation as one of the most intimate and romantic lodges on either side of the Zambezi River.

Tucked away under magnificent riverside trees, Tongabezi has long had the reputation as one of the most intimate and romantic lodges on either side of the Zambezi River. Founded in 1990 some 15 kilometres upstream from Victoria Falls, this award-winning lodge is the perfect accommodation for honeymooners and couples seeking privacy but also for families looking for exclusivity and home-from-home convenience.

Tongabezi’s eclectic range of suites reflects its independent, creative and quirky nature – you can choose between luxurious tree-houses, riverside cottages and honeymoon hideaways – but the lodge also has taken its responsibility to the local environment and community seriously. Tongabezi is behind several projects including the funding of a primary school, HIV- awareness campaigns and establishing green practices among local communities.

Secluded, friendly and accommodating, Tongabezi is the ideal ‘away-from-the-crowds’ base from which to explore Victoria Falls and relax afterwards, thanks to the in-house spa and swimming pool. Tongabezi will happily arrange activities such as whitewater rafting and elephant-back safaris for you but the lodge also offers a wide range of inclusive activities arranged around your schedule. Choose from guided canoeing and walking adventures to sunset boat cruises and candle-lit floating dinners.

Lodge Highlights:

  • Secluded, private riverside setting on the Zambezi

Tongabezi was created with a vision to constantly seek new ways to promote rest, relaxation and sheer enjoyment among its guests. The lodge’s location 15 kilometres upstream from Victoria Falls means a quieter, away-from-the-crowds experience so be sure to try one of Tongabezi’s island picnics, a gourmet affair served on an uninhabited Zambezi island to a backdrop of hippo snorts and birdsong.

Tongabezi is happy to arrange all your other activities in Victoria Falls, whether it’s whitewater rafting, bungy jumping or a scenic flight you are after – simply ask your valet or ask at the main lodge.
