Activities at Savute Elephant Lodge
- Morning Game Drives
- Afternoon Game Drives
- Rock Painting Excursions
- Bird Watching

With its main buildings and tented suites all looking out over the flowing Savute Channel, Savute Elephant Lodge offers heavyweight game viewing from the comfort of its viewing decks, thoughtfully provisioned with easy chairs and hammocks. But more drama lies beyond camp and experienced guides lead early morning and late afternoon drives in search of Savute’s prolific wildlife.
It’s a destination most famous for elephants – both docile bulls and the shyer breeding herds – as well as Africa’s big predators. The eternal conflict between Savute’s lions and spotted hyenas grabs the headlines but the area delivers regular sightings of cheetah, leopard and wild dog. Summer grazing attracts great herds of buffalo and zebra to Savute as well as a host of migrant birds, including dazzling carmine bee-eaters and many raptors. You’ll also enjoy a guided walk to rock art sites and have the chance to view several of Savute’s monstrously large baobab trees.
