Little Mombo Camp

Featuring only three luxurious tented suites and hidden away under giant trees, Little Mombo Camp delivers a most intimate Okavango Delta experience.

Featuring only three luxurious tented suites and hidden away under giant trees, Little Mombo Camp delivers what must surely be the most intimate and personalised Okavango Delta experience. The camp lies on Chief’s Island, a haven for wildlife at the heart of the wetlands and the emphasis at camp is on game drives and guided walks, giving guests a broad insight into the delta’s incredible ecology.

The camp’s exclusivity and privacy makes it perfect for honeymooners or families celebrating a special occasion but Little Mombo’s reputation for dramatic game viewing has long appealed to wildlife photographers and safari travellers. The area is famous for its predators – lion and leopard in particular – and the varied habitats support a great diversity of other animals and birds. Elephants and buffalo are often seen, and the floodplains in front of camp teem with antelope and waterbirds.

The little sister of Mombo Camp, Little Mombo Camp makes a great combination with a water-based Okavango Delta camp where mokoro (canoe) and boating can be enjoyed. The best time to visit Little Mombo from a comfort point of view is during the dry months of June to October but the early summer period is also very productive. Migrant birds arrive in huge numbers and many antelope give birth, their young attracting wild dogs and cheetahs into the area.

Lodge Highlights:

  • Three-tent privacy in a secluded corner of the Okavango Delta
  • Moremi Game Reserve setting – amazing game viewing
  • Beautiful tented suites with viewing deck & sala
  • Photographic hide, massages & gym

Guests also enjoy the attention of a massage and beauty therapist – the perfect way to spend a lazy afternoon.

Activities at Little Mombo Camp

  • Morning & Afternoon Game Drives
  • Photography Hide
  • Guided Nature Walks
  • Bird Watching

A setting in the most fertile region of the Okavango Delta gives Little Mombo an advantage over other delta camps in terms of the diversity and density of wildlife. Little Mombo is a land-based camp and game viewing is conducted in open-sided 4X4 vehicles and on foot; its Moremi Game Reserve location promises unspoilt views and a pristine ecosystem.

You’ll head out in the early mornings and late afternoons to track big cats on the prowl – the area is home to large prides of lions as well as many leopards – and the good grazing attracts a multitude of antelope as well as the heavyweights – elephant, buffalo and hippo. The wide range of habitats makes for sensational birding, not least in the green summer months when migrant species appear. Guests also enjoy fantastic photographic opportunities thanks to the camp’s hide, set next to water and some 20 minutes from camp.
