Jao Camp

Tucked under majestic riverside trees and facing miles of unspoilt wetlands, Jao Camp can be considered one of the best-located camps in the Okavango Delta.

Tucked under majestic riverside trees and facing miles of unspoilt wetlands, Jao Camp can be considered one of the best-located camps in the Okavango Delta as well as one of its most luxurious. Its island setting in a private concession assures exclusivity, and with facilities ranging from a spa and plunge pools to a gym and photography hide, Jao Camp is perhaps the best appointed.

The secluded, romantic setting appeals to honeymooners but Jao Camp is also a destination for the traveller who wants to enjoy a diverse and comprehensive Okavango Delta experience. Game drives and mokoro (dug-out canoe) excursions are balanced by boating and guided walks, and there are opportunities to enjoy spot-lit night drives and full-day 4X4 safaris.

The camp’s nine tented and thatched suites are spread out along the shaded tree line, each one a study in refined, designer elegance. Raised and with delta views, their enormous bedroom and living area flow onto a wooden deck, complete with private sala and day bed – perfect for an afternoon siesta. Remote and accessible only by air, Jao Camp makes an excellent addition to an itinerary that includes lodges in the Chobe National Park or the Kalahari region.

Lodge Highlights:

  • Beautiful private island setting
  • Sumptuous designer suites
  • Excellent land & water-based game viewing
  • Spa, private dining & bush sleep-outs
