Ghoha Hills Savuti Lodge

Perched on the only high ground for miles around, this lodge boasts an air of exclusive privacy as well as grand views of the Savuti landscape.

There are several lodges scattered around the Savuti region of the Chobe National Park but few can boast a location to match that of Ghoha Hills Savuti Lodge. Perched on the only high ground for miles around, this lodge boasts an air of exclusive privacy as well as grand views of the Savuti landscape.

Run on solar power and designed to exacting environmental standards, Ghoha Hills Savuti Lodge is an appealing blend of seasoned timber, traditional thatch and romantic canvas. Game drives are the focus here and for good reason: Savuti is one of Botswana’s best game viewing destinations and has a reputation for excellent elephant and predator sightings. A zebra migration adds more drama to Savuti’s summer months but thanks to the re-appearance of the ephemeral Savuti Channel there is permanent water to make Savuti a year-round destination.

Ghoha Hills offers 11 luxuriously appointed tented suites, two of which can sleep up to four guests, making them ideal for families. Best accessed by air, this lodge makes a fantastic combination with a stay in the Okavango Delta and the Chobe River area. Guests will enjoy the thrill of morning and afternoon game drives and also have the chance to view Bushman Rock Art, hidden away at secret locations on the Ghoha Hills themselves.

Lodge Highlights:

  • Unique elevated location in Savuti
  • Excellent elephant & predator game viewing
  • Access to Bushman Rock Art sites
  • In-house waterhole & viewing hide

Guests at Ghoha Hills Savuti Lodge can take advantage of a wide range of activities, giving them an unrivalled Savuti experience. The area has long enjoyed a reputation as one of Botswana’s game viewing hotspots and it is not for nothing that many wildlife documentaries have been shot here.

Early morning game drives begin the day after a light breakfast. Big cats are generally the focus at Savuti – lions are well established as are leopards; cheetahs pass through often while other predators such as spotted hyena and jackal are commonly seen. Wild dog packs make regular appearances, particularly in early summer when Savuti’s impala herds have given birth and migrating zebras arrive.

The day ends with an afternoon drive, often dominated by intimate, close-up sightings of elephants at waterholes and along the Savuti Channel. Ghoha Hills offers full-day safaris too, complete with picnic basket, as well as the opportunity to spend time at their waterhole hide, set about a kilometre from camp. Guides will also lead you to hidden-away rock art sites, images of animals left by San Bushman hundreds of years ago.
