Guests at Ghoha Hills Savuti Lodge can take advantage of a wide range of activities, giving them an unrivalled Savuti experience. The area has long enjoyed a reputation as one of Botswana’s game viewing hotspots and it is not for nothing that many wildlife documentaries have been shot here.
Early morning game drives begin the day after a light breakfast. Big cats are generally the focus at Savuti – lions are well established as are leopards; cheetahs pass through often while other predators such as spotted hyena and jackal are commonly seen. Wild dog packs make regular appearances, particularly in early summer when Savuti’s impala herds have given birth and migrating zebras arrive.
The day ends with an afternoon drive, often dominated by intimate, close-up sightings of elephants at waterholes and along the Savuti Channel. Ghoha Hills offers full-day safaris too, complete with picnic basket, as well as the opportunity to spend time at their waterhole hide, set about a kilometre from camp. Guides will also lead you to hidden-away rock art sites, images of animals left by San Bushman hundreds of years ago.
