A secluded island setting makes Eagle Island Lodge ideal for travellers looking for an unhurried and private Okavango Delta experience. Set under giant riverside trees, the camp has unspoilt delta views and access to permanent water, making it a genuine water camp.

Activities offered include motor boat and mokoro safaris as well as game drives when water levels are lower, usually from November to April. Nature walks with an armed guide reveal the intricacies of the Okavango Delta ecosystem while helicopter safaris give you the bird’s eye perspective. Fishing and bird watching is on offer, and you can also pay a visit to a local Bayei village to round off a very comprehensive experience.

One of the more solid and grander tented camps in the Okavango, Eagle Island Lodge is a honeymoon favourite thanks to its dreamy setting and secluded Private Suite, complete with plunge pool and bath. The other 10 tents are luxurious air-conditioned suites, connected to camp via telephone and featuring four-poster beds draped in mosquito netting and fully-stocked mini bars. A swimming pool, award-winning bar and range of spa treatments complete the picture.

Eagle Island Lodge offers ten luxury tents as well as an additional secluded Private Suite, perfect for honeymooners. Boasting unspoilt delta views from a private deck, each tent is raised off the ground and tucked away under shady trees. A four-poster bed draped in mosquito netting promises a good night’s sleep, with air conditioning and a ceiling fan for complete comfort. Connected to the main lodge via telephone, each tent has a generous en suite bathroom as well as a mini bar, hairdryer and safe. The Private Suite has a private plunge pool, outdoor showers and bath.

Eagle Island Lodge is one of the most well appointed tented camps in the Okavango Delta. Its 20 metre swimming pool is popular in summer, and guests can look forward to in-house spa treatments, off-site bush dining and table-for-two romance. The stylish communal area encompasses the lounge and dining area but the camp’s famous bar, voted by The New York Times as one of the world’s most romantic, sits on its own private island. Internet access, satellite TV, a star-spotting telescope, reference library and curio shop complete the lodge’s enviable list of conveniences.

Set in permanent wetlands, Eagle Island Lodge is a water-based camp with game drives available only in the low water season – usually between November and April. The region is an unspoilt one and teems with wildlife – you’ll head out on early morning mokoro (canoe) adventures with an expert guide, who will also lead you over small islands on foot for an extra dimension to your experience. Game viewing by helicopter is one of the lodge’s trump cards, and is augmented by activities such as bird watching, fishing and visits to local Bayei villages where you will gain an insight into life in the delta.
