Camp Kalahari

Comprising only ten walk-in tented suites, Camp Kalahari offers both an intimate and well-rounded safari experience.

Comprising only ten walk-in tented suites, Camp Kalahari offers both an intimate and well-rounded safari experience. Its surrounding grasslands are home to resident antelope, giraffe and plenty of predators; the summer rains attract even more wildlife to the area and the summer bird watching is excellent. Morning, afternoon and evening game drives are augmented by quad-biking and tracking excursions while horseback safaris of up to several days are available for experienced riders.

Tucked under acacia and palm trees on the edge of the Makgadikgadi Pans National Park, Camp Kalahari is both more affordable and more family-friendly than its sister camps – San Camp and Jack’s Camp. There is a swimming pool and four-sleeper family unit available, and children of all ages will enjoy the camp’s interpretive walks as well as encounters with habituated meerkats.

Relaxed, informal and friendly, solar-powered Kalahari Camp makes a great addition to a Botswana safari that includes the Okavango Delta and Chobe National Park. The landscape changes dramatically with the arrival of the summer rains and the camp stays open to the end of the year to witness the arrival of thousands of zebra onto the Makgadikgadi grasslands.

Lodge Highlights:

  • Relaxed, family-friendly tented camp
  • Game viewing & quad-biking
  • Tracking adventures & meerkat encounters
  • Well placed for summer’s zebra migration
