Linyanti Region

Just west of Chobe National Park lies the woodlands and wetlands of the remote Linyanti Region. This is true big game wilderness with dry season herds and predators to rival anything you’ll find in its better-known neighbour. Unlike Chobe, however, Linyanti is made up of huge private concessions where low visitor numbers guarantee an exclusive safari experience.

The best known of these concessions, the Linyanti Wildlife Reserve, has three main camps set along the Linyanti River and now-flowing Savuti Channel. Further north lie the delta-like lagoons and waterways of the Chobe Enclave, while to the west you’ll find the predator-rich Kwando Reserve and the vast Selinda floodplains stretching out towards the Okavango Delta.

Linyanti Region in Botswana

Game viewing reaches its peak during Botswana’s dry winter months when wildlife congregates along Linyanti’s rivers and lagoons. Between July and October the migratory herds arrive, and it’s not unusual to see up to a hundred elephant on the Linyanti floodplains! Add to that the resident game and large number of top predators – lion, leopard, wild dog, cheetah and hyena – and you’re in for an action-packed safari experience.

Explore this wild and remote concession on game drives led by expert guides. Since this land is privately owned off-road driving is permitted, getting you up close to the predators and herds. Most of the lodges also offer river safaris too when water levels allow, while guided walks and night drives add to the diverse range of safari activities.
