Kana Kara Camp

Kana Kara Overview

The northern Okavango Delta is a place where clear-water rivers cut through great swathes of golden savannah, a place of buffalo herds and lion prides, bull elephants, antelope herds and coursing cheetah. It is in these remote wetlands that one of the delta’s smallest and most intimate camps sits – Kana Kara, home to only five East Africa-style walk-in tents and delivering safari exclusivity within its private concession.

Kana Kara Camp offers game viewing by specially-modified 4X4s as well as mokoro (canoe) safaris that allow you to stretch your legs and explore small islands with your guide, observing in detail the details that are sometimes overlooked in the excitement of big game sightings.

Blending rustic simplicity with comfort and elegance, Kana Kara Camp makes a wonderful combination with camps in the Kalahari region or Chobe National Park. The camp’s setting on the legendary Selinda Spillway assures permanent water which makes for great game viewing at any time of year.

Distinguished by its rustic simplicity, Kana Kara Camp offers its guests a comfortable taste of an authentic safari camp, the type of which has been superseded by those with an emphasis on gilt-edged luxury. Activities at Kana Kara Camp

  • Game Drives
  • Mokoro (Canoe) Trips
  • Guided Nature Walks
  • Bird watching
Kana Kara Camp sits in a private game-rich concession which enables its guides to offer walking safaris along with 4X4 game drives and canoe trips. The day usually begins with a guided canoe adventure, taking advantage of the Okavango’s famously crisp morning light to observe tiny painted frogs and beaded waterlily flowers. You’ll have the chance to walk on some of the area’s larger islands, on the lookout for birds and antelope before returning for a hearty lunch. The afternoon is given over to a game drive and the chance to track the delta’s big cats and see elephants and buffalo drinking at the water’s edge.
