Getting to Botswana – Kasane

Set overlooking the Chobe River, Kasane is the ideal place for safari travellers to connect with the Chobe River, Savuti and Linyanti regions of Botswana. It’s also just 70 kilometres to Victoria Falls from Kasane, making this border town a good place from which to reach the famous world wonder on a cost-saving road transfer.

International visitors will however first need to fly into Southern Africa’s travel hub, Johannesburg’s O R Tambo International Airport. Then there are daily scheduled flights from Johannesburg to both Maun and Kasane Airports with SA Airlink or Air Botswana – the journey takes around two and a half hours.

Getting to Botswana is also possible via Victoria Falls. From Johannesburg there are daily scheduled flights to Victoria Falls Airport (Zimbabwe) or Livingstone Airport (Zambia) with SAA or BA. This means you can start your holiday in Victoria Falls and then enjoy an easy overland transfer to Botswana for your safari – it couldn’t be simpler.

Contact Safari Online for assistance in getting to Botswana. Although we don’t book international flights, we do organise regional flights within Africa. Some are included in our pre-packaged tours but if you are creating your own itinerary then we can always make the bookings for you.

Trip of a lifetime

Richard From the US

“I can’t help myself from giving everyone I meet a run-down of our amazing trip, and people are just astounded. I tell them that it was like being set down in the middle of a National Geographic special. “Trip of a Lifetime” doesn’t do justice to our experience.”
