Camp Kuzuma

Located on the famous ‘elephant corridor’ between Botswana’s Chobe and Zimbabwe’s Hwange national parks, Camp Kuzuma enjoys a private setting in a forest reserve. Travellers looking for an off-the-beaten-path safari will find Camp Kuzuma ideal, especially if they have visited the Chobe region before and are looking for something new.

The camp lies about 80 kilometres south of the Chobe River and Kasane, the Chobe’s gateway town. Set in mopane forest, Camp Kuzuma overlooks a waterhole well frequented by elephants, especially during the dry season, but the reserve is also a place of lions, hyenas, buffalo and many antelope species. Day and night game drives are offered along with guided walks and bird watching, and the camp also offers day tours to the Chobe River and Victoria Falls.

A great alternative for travellers who want a Chobe safari experience but without the crowds of peak season, Camp Kuzuma is a small and intimate camp with only five luxurious tented suites on offer. Guides are passionate and knowledgeable, massages and spa treatments are offered, and the ambience is one of affordable luxury.

Activities at the Camp

  • Morning & Afternoon Game Drives
  • Spot-lit Night Drives
  • Guided Nature Walks & Bird Watching
  • Cultural Tours
Located an hour’s drive south of the Chobe River, Camp Kuzuma offers safari activities in the Kuzuma Forest Reserve, a game-rich enclave bordering the Chobe National Park. Early morning and late afternoon drives are led by local guides who search the forest edges and waterholes for Kuzuma’s wildlife. This is classic elephant country and guests can expect to see many of them in the dry season as well as buffalo and several antelope species. Predators are well represented here, especially lion, and night drives afford the chance of seeing nocturnal hunters like leopard and hyena too. The bird watching is excellent here, particularly in the summer months when migrant species arrive. Guests also enjoy short nature walks in the company of expert guides and trackers.

A culturally-minded visit to a local village can be arranged as can excursions to the Chobe River for sunset cruises, fishing and game viewing. Victoria Falls lies a couple of hours away and can easily be experienced on a day trip from Camp Kuzuma.
