Elephant Valley Lodge

A setting in the Kasane Forest Reserve lends a unique touch to Elephant Valley Lodge, one of several lodges that lie outside the borders of the Chobe National Park. Although it is a 40 minute drive to the park’s entrance, the privacy of the camp and its famous in-house waterhole more than makes up for it.

Elephant Valley Lodge affords visitors a more budget-friendly option for the Chobe River area but still delivers a classic candles and canvas experience. Walk-in East Africa-style tents are scattered around the lodge’s gardens and some look out over the waterhole, which itself has an excellent hide to give photographers unbeatable views of elephants and antelope at the water.

Close to the border with Zimbabwe and Zambia and just an hour’s drive from Victoria Falls, Elephant Valley Lodge makes an excellent first night or two in Botswana. You’ll enjoy game drives and river boat cruises in the Chobe National Park as well as bird watching and fishing. Families will appreciate the fenced nature of the camp not to mention the lodge’s four-sleeper Family Tent and babysitting service.

  • Morning River Cruises
  • Bird Watching
Elephant Valley Lodge is set in a forest reserve, a 40-minute drive from the entrance of the Chobe National Park. It offers activities designed to maximise your enjoyment of the park and so begins the day with a Chobe River cruise, spotting animals at the river, before ending the day with an afternoon game drive, returning to camp via a spot-lit drive through the forest reserve.

Chobe is classic big game country and an area most famous for its densities of elephants, many of which you’ll see at the lodge’s in-house waterhole. Other common residents of the area include lions, giraffe, buffalo and a wide range of antelope; leopards and wild dogs are regularly seen, and river cruises reward visitors with close-up views of hippos, crocodiles and some of the recorded 500 bird species.
