Chobe Savanna Lodge

A Namibian location gives Chobe Savanna Lodge a unique setting in the Chobe River region. Overlooking the river and its floodplains from Namibia’s Caprivi Strip, Chobe Savanna Lodge differs from other Chobe River lodges in that it is a water-based camp, offering game viewing, bird watching and fishing from the comfort of small manoeuvrable boats, piloted by expert local guides.

The lodge’s grand thatched main building has become famous for its sweeping 270 degree views, something that is reflected in the design of its 12 thatched en suite chalets, each one air conditioned and with a private terrace set at the water’s edge.

Perfect for safari travellers looking for a more exclusive and unhurried Chobe River experience, Chobe Savanna Lodge offers tailored activities to suit each guest’s tastes. Game viewing adventures go in search of Chobe’s huge elephant and buffalo herds while keeping an eye out for big cats and even bigger crocodiles. Bird watchers will marvel at the astonishing diversity of Chobe’s birdlife and keen catch-and-release anglers will appreciate the chance to throw a line overboard for the infamous tiger fish.

  • Catch & Release Fishing
  • Local Village Visits
  • Sunset River Cruises
Chobe Savanna Lodge is a water-based lodge that offers game viewing and bird watching by small and highly manoeuvrable motor boats. Wildlife is abundant in the area and at no time more than during the dry winter months from May to October when increasingly large numbers of elephant and buffalo arrive at the river to drink. Predators are well represented and the general game viewing is excellent. Bird watchers will relish the chance to spot some of the 500 or so birds recorded in this birding paradise while anglers will enjoy a bit of catch-and-release fishing for bream and tiger fish. Guided visits to nearby villages for a taste of local culture complete the list of activities.
